When the original Incredibles movie released in theaters, I was eighteen years old and a freshman in college.  I talked my boyfriend at the time into taking me to see this kids movie, because I knew I would love it.  I was right, I very much enjoyed the movie, and I was so excited that the ending was a perfect set up for a sequel.  And then I waited.  And time passed.  And I waited some more, and more time passed.

Fourteen years later we finally have the long anticipated sequel.  Now, I am 31 years old and college is a distant memory.  But I was still super excited for this movie.  Before the film starts a few of the stars come on to acknowledge that fourteen years is a long time to wait, and explain part of what goes into making a movie like this.  The story picks up precisely where the first movie left off, with the "underminer" villain popping up out of the ground, and the Incredible family throwing on their masks to fight back.

From there the story takes another turn, with a corporation offering the supers a chance to make superheros legal again.  They recruit Elasti-girl to be the face of the new campaign, which leaves Mr. Incredible home to take care of the kids, including the newly powered Jack-Jack.  The jokes are funny, the story twists and turns, and it was overall excellent.  There was some subtle social commentary slipped in, which makes it clear that it's a different sequel then might have been made a decade ago.

If you loved the first Incredibles movie, you dare not miss this one.  If you haven't seen it, rent it, and then quickly head to your nearest theater to catch this one.  It is good fun for the whole family!
