This movie did what it set out to do... you feel for the characters and you cry with them. There aren't any real surprises in the movie, though. When the movie opens, you could probably pause it and describe the entire rest of the movie. If you liked A Walk to Remember, you'll like this (although this wasn't nearly as good, in my opinion). I like a good tearjerker, personally. "Sad is happy for deep people", after all. But I guess I would prefer the movie to either be more of a character study or have a more involved plot.

Midnight Sun tells the story of Katie Price, who suffers from (a real disease) nicknamed XP. Her father has to protect her from the sun because any damage to her skin from the sun just can't be repaired by her body. She tries to make the best of her home-schooled life and finds solace in her music. While playing at a train station, her crush finds her and falls for her. They date, she gets sick, and tears are shed. He's awesome, she's great, life is wonderful and fragile. It's a great message for us all.

If you like this movie and haven't seen A Walk To Remember, you should watch it, cuz you'll love that movie. This was a watered down version of that, and I still had some tears. I'm a softie when it comes to movies like this, though. You know if this is a movie for you before you see it, though. In the category of sad movies this rates 'a few tears'. In the genre, it's probably not in the upper half, but I like movies like this with tons of heart. Don't go expecting greatness, though. I think Bella Thorn and Rob Riggle were pretty good in it, though, so there's that!
