What a surprise! This is a great popcorn movie with good action, tense moments, and only slightly not-great acting/writing! This won't win any Academy Awards, but seriously, this was a decent flick! Do NOT watch the trailer, though... it gives away WAY TOO MUCH! There are tons of spoilers in it.
The Hurricane Heist follows brothers Brees and Will who lost their father to a hurricane early in their lives. Will becomes a meteorologist and Brees follows in his father's footsteps to run the family business. They come across a treasury agent trying to protect the $600 million that is supposed to be destroyed. There's action and excitement and all set against a powerful hurricane that everyone (except Will, of course) totally underestimates.
So yeah, there are some less good scenes in this movie. There's some not-great writing and some performances that are a tad lacking, but in all, this is an entertaining movie! There were some twists and turns that I truly didn't expect. The main girl kicks some serious butt in it and isn't just some damsel in distress. There are some feels in the movie, but nothing over the top.
It's hard not to compare this to Geostorm. It's far less sci-fi, but this movie BLOWS IT AWAY! The relationships actually make sense, the science isn't preposterous, and the plot is so much better. I mean, who doesn't love a fun heist movie? And the backdrop of the hurricane is just really cool. Yeah, there are some issues, dropping what could have been a 6 or 7 movie down a few notches, but still... you will probably enjoy this movie!
